End of an Era

Bereavement

When my father Wasyl Mosiuk passed away in the late hours of 18th May 1997 the night was full of loud thunderstorms. He had suffered for several months, undiagnosed, before finally losing his battle against cancer of the pancreas.

My mother Katharina Mosiuk reluctantly moved, shortly afterwards, to a residential home called Nightingale House in Dresden, Stoke-on-Trent,  where she remained for four years and was lovingly cared for whilst her suffering with dementia worsened, until she finally passed away with Bronchopneumonia on 23rd November 2001.

You can shed tears that they have gone, Or you can smile and be happy because they lived,

You can close your eyes and pray that they will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that they have left,

Your heart can be empty because you can't see them, Or you can be full of the love that you shared,

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday,

You can remember them and only that they are gone, Or you can cherish their memory and let it live on,

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what they would want,

Smile, Open your eyes, Love, and Go on
